International Wildlife Congress 2025

At the International Wildlife Congress 2025 (IWC 2025) in Lillehammer, Norway, our BAMBI project was represented by Christoph Praschl, Andreas Stöckl, and David C. Schedl from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH OÖ), together with Stephanie Wohlfahrt from the Office for Wildlife Ecology.

The team presented the poster “Advancing Wildlife Monitoring: Drone-Based Sampling for Roe Deer Density Estimation”, which highlights the use of drones with thermal and RGB cameras to estimate roe deer densities in Southeastern Austria.

The IWC provides an excellent platform to exchange ideas with wildlife researchers, practitioners, and conservation experts from around the world. Our extended abstract is available on arXiv, and more information about the event can be found on the official IWC 2025 website. We would like to thank our partners and the Austrian Research Centre for Forests (BFW) for their valuable collaboration and support.
